Viv Greene Attorney & Notary The practice was established by British-born attorney Viv Greene, who, after working in the UK, moved to South Africa and worked for several reputable legal firms in Pietermaritzburg before starting her own legal firm in April 2011.She has worked in various areas of civil litigation and now mainly focuses on High Court litigation, labour, land issues and evictions in terms of both PIE and ESTA, and also advises clients on BEE. Fern Sutherland Attorney Fern Sutherland, who was born and raised in Pietermaritzburg, lived on the Maritzburg College property growing up and immigrated to New Zealand with her family as a young girl. A year later her family return back home to Pietermaritzburg, this time to stay.Fern attended Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School and after matriculating in 2005 had the great opportunity to spend the year abroad, which she did in the UK, Bath, before enrolling at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg, in 2007.She graduated with an LLB degree in After completing her LLB degree she remained in Pietermaritzburg to serve her Articles of Clerkship, and was admitted as an attorney in January She entered the workforce immediately after matriculating in 2001 and her first administrative position was as a receptionist at Hay and Scott Attorneys. In 2005 she travelled to mid-town Manhattan, New York to work as an au pair for the Zuccotti/Weinstock family. After expressing an interest in law, her host family graciously offered to contribute towards the cost of her studies and after returning to South Africa she registered for her Bachelor of Laws through the University of South Africa (UNISA). Whilst living in Aberdeen she worked at both the Aberdeen City and the Aberdeenshire Councils and on board the Total North Alwyn Oil Platform in the North Sea. On her return to South Africa in 2009 she began working as a litigation secretary for Frederick Badenhorst gaining experience in the fields of Road Accident Fund claims, personal injury and medical negligence litigation. She completed her LLB in 2013 and began her articles at Stowell & Co. Attorneys where she was exposed to the fields of commercial law, High Court litigation and corporate collections. She has appeared in the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court and the Magistrates’ Courts in Pietermaritzburg and the surrounding areas. the KwaZulu-Natal High Court, which has jurisdiction over the whole province\. the Master of the High Court and the Deeds Office, which are based in Pietermaritzburg so we serve the needs of a wide network of corresponding firms throughout the province of KwaZulu-Natal and across South Africa. the KwaZulu-Natal Deeds Office where all property related transactions for KwaZulu-Natal are dealt with, and all records for the province in respect thereof are captured and kept.
