Unpacking a facility’s water intake, consumption and discharge, either in the form of a water balance or water footprint, is imperative in identifying potential opportunities for water efficiencies, savings and reuse. Water supply security is a risk facing all sectors, making it critical that risks are identified and evaluated. Sources evaluated include direct abstraction of surface and groundwater, and water supplied via a third party such as a water service provider or municipality. Where an unsustainable water source is identified, the WRS team assesses water source alternatives and their viability as a full replacement or partial augmentation of the existing water supply. Examples of alternative sources include surface water and groundwater resources, desalination and waste water recovery. In order to make informed decisions today, it is important to understand how these decisions will impact the future. Using scenario analysis our team maps and evaluates a number of strategic scenarios against a business as usual case, enabling the optimal strategy to be identified. This strategy optimisation takes into account the variability of water supply quality and quantity, along with financial and legal implications of freshwater abstraction and waste water discharge. WRS designs and implements water analytics reporting systems, aimed at driving productivity and reducing organizational barriers in water management. Each analytics system is personalised to the client’s business objectives and structures. The reporting system couples business intelligence performance reporting and forward-looking advanced analytics, and is designed to target a range of audiences within the organisation, providing information relevant to the role. In doing so, we lead all of the design, procurement and construction work, as well as ensure that the whole project is completed against the triangle of project deliverables. By far the majority of our experience is in EPC (Engineering Procure and Construction) type contracts, whereby Talbot Projects take total accountability for all of the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and hand over of the project to the client. Our team has a wealth of experience in dealing with contract documentation, company and project finance, and associated legal matters. Further, our team ensures the timeous delivery of equipment to site to ensure a successful project outcome for our client. On all projects, we ensure compliance with the requirements of local legislation, and where this is lacking with the South African Health and Safety Act (No. Where relevant we will also apply our clients’ standards to the work that we do. Our Health & Safety officer will conduct a risk assessments for our projects and associated activities and prepare a Health and Safety file which will refer to all policies & procedures, key performance indicators and will include a project health and safety plan as well as task specific assessments, mitigations and plans for use and reference on site. Regular internal audits are carried out during the life of the project to assess and ensure performance.
