KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Nomusa Dube-Ncube is urging all municipalities to ensure that all expiring contracts of municipal managers and other senior managers are filled with immediate effect to prevent instability at the top level of municipal administration. The MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nomusa Dube-Ncube has expressed shock and outrage at the killing of yet another councillor in Richmond local municipality in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands. Good governance is at the heart of the effective functioning of municipalities. Sound financial management is integral to the success of local government. There has to be a focus on building strong municipal administrative systems and processes. She was the Mayor of the North Central Local Council before this local authority of Durban was amalgamated with several others to form what is now a bigger municipality known as the eThekwini Municipality (Durban). Subsequent to that, she was appointed the Speaker of the Municipality. After a remarkable term as the Speaker, during which period she launched Women Youth Development and a number of initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty, the ANC redeployed her to serve as Ambassador to the Czech Republic. After that, she was appointed back home to serve as Chief Whip of the African National Congress in the KwaZulu-Natal provincial legislature. Parallel to that, she was appointed as the Deputy Provincial Secretary of the African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal. She holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is currently serving as the MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs. KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs ( Cogta) has called on the law enforcement agencies to investigate what appear to be deliberate acts of sabotage by certain elements that are tampering with electricity infrastructure and causing blackouts in various parts of uMsunduzi municipality. KZN MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nomusa Dube -Ncube, has urged councillors to hold urgent meetings with communities, as part of efforts to restore peace and stability in townships around Durban, where protests and acts of violence seem to be spiralling out of control.
